Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is a coenzyme present in every living cell, where it shuttles electrons in hundreds of oxidation-reduction reactions and serves as the required substrate for sirtuins, PARP enzymes, and CD38 signaling.
Because cellular NAD+ levels decline in many aging and metabolic-stress models, the molecule has become a cornerstone reagent in longevity science. Researchers use it in mitochondrial-function assays, sirtuin-activity studies, DNA-repair enzymology, and models of cellular energy metabolism.
